Installing Garageband Jam Packs On Lion Song
I’m trying to install a bunch of Garageband loops and software instruments from the old Jam Pack CDs (circa 2004/05) onto my 2015 MacBook Pro. There’s tons of loops in these packs that you can’t get on Garageband today, unless you want to purchase them through Mainstage - but seeing I already have them I want to save the unnecessary expense.
Because my MacBook doesn’t have an external drive, I’m installing via remote disc from an old MacBook (circa 2010). The problem is, the install gets 2 minutes away from completion and just stops there saying ‘writing files, 2 minutes remaining’. Is there any other way to install the old Jam Pack content, or do I need to change anything in this process? Running a MacBook Pro Retina early 2015 w Sierra 10.13.3. I've run into the same problem with trying to install the packs on a newer system.
If you have an older system available, you can simply copy the files over to the appropriate folders (see below). If GarageBand doesn't 'see' them after starting up, select the Loop Library icon, open Finder and navigate to the folders and just 'select-all' and 'drag' the folders into the Loop Library; this will force a re-index. Unfortunately, as you have found, the installers included with the Jam Packs no longer run under Mac OS X 10.7.x (and later) because they use legacy PowerPC code, so you need to do a little manual work to install them under this version of the OS.Once you've inserted the DVD.open it up, if it's not already opened, and control-click on the installer. There is also only limited support for messages sent from knobs on MIDI keyboards, only real-time pitch bend, modulation, sustain, and foot control are recognized. GarageBand allows you todrag these rectangles around, but be careful! If the last thing youclicked on was the icon representing the entire image channel, thenall of the individual images are selected.
If you try to move orre-size just one image, you will actually move or re-size all ofthe images. If you are zoomed in on one image you might not noticethat you have messed up all of the other images until you zoom outagain. Always make sure you know exactly what is selected beforeyou edit your podcast.GarageBand can also be misleading in terms of audio quality.There are several choices available for podcast audio quality.
