The bridge pickup is humbucker which has so much power it screams loud. I instantly got hooked on the guitar and decided on the spot to buy the 3-color Sunburst Rosewood guitar from Guitar center in San Jose CA, but not before I have gotten a sweet deal needles to mention that I traded my Gibson Les Paul Studio Deluxe because I did not have the same pleasure playing with Gibson as I have with this Strat.

To me it is an awesome guitar so much so that at the night I bought it I played for hours none stop even thought the very next morning I had to go back to work. Other foreign brands/models maintain a better quality 'out of the box' at a lower price.

Guitar center always keeps all guitars on the racks (so they say) but of all the american made strats, it appears the mexican made ones, (especially the where the neck is concerned) had better fret edge finishing than the american ones I have inspected/tested. The one I selected still had enough fret edge overhang to cut a tree branch.

This was fixable and after shaving the edges, the compound radius neck started to gain the feel of strats past. The new locking tuners on this model looked as though the tech at the assembly plant installed them finger tight (several high end models were discovered with loose tuners). Once several flaws in the setup were corrected, the guitar was restrung, action adjusted and finally I was able to check out the rest of the guitar. The Strat was plugged straight in to a Mesa Triple Rec. Yup.There was that strat sound I was looking for! The reconfigured S-1 button added almost a humbucker sound to the neck and middle positions; very jazzy sounding.

With the S-1 button off, all positions, even the 4 position (middle/bridge humbucker), had that funk/country twang I expected from the strat. The bridge position pickup (humbucker) puts this strat into overdrive when ran through the boogie's drive channels. The tremelo was set on this strat in a 'floating' configuration (again a few models were set this way).

I found it difficult to lower the string action, so this was readjusted to a flat (against the body) configuration. Lowering the string height gave this strat a playability I expected/known from these guitars. Again I question the setup from the factory (other brands/models take the time to setup theirs from the factory; this should be no exception, even american-made).

If not for the famous sound/quality the strat is known for, any other model will do. One should not have to resort to inspect every inch of a guitar (or a few of them) of a american made strat. Other major brands and their foreign made counterparts are delivering higher quality products than this 'higher-end' model. Although disappointed from this company, the newly adjusted feel/playability/sound of this guitar keeps me from rating it lower than a 3.

From all the other strats (foreign and american) I have played/owned, I expect no less than the awesome quality they provided over the years. Newer models should be no different. Fantastic old warm tube sound. Set up from the factory was just fine. HOWEVER, the 'passing lane' button takes the volume totally out of the ability to play with others. It is screamingly loud and there is no way to adjust it. The 'feature' is useless. I am playing with a volume foot switch, but this is a pain. I hate to void the warranty by messing with it and would love any suggestions.

I had narrowed my quest down to 3 or 4 possibilities in addition to this guitar for weeks before going to GC. I considered the Epiphone 'Slash' Les Paul, the American Standard Strat, and the PRS Mirra. All were given a test drive and all proved to be very nice guitars. However, I couldn't justify the American standard Strat as I own 2 other Strats, and although both are MIMS,they are very nice playing guitars.

I could not justify another single coil Strat and that's where the I figured the added hummbucker on the Deluxe would set it apart. This is a superb piece, outstanding workmanship, gorgeous finish (Olympic pearl/rosewood), compound radius fretboard, S-1 switching, noiseless single coils and the hummer at the bridge position. I run mine through a Fender Hotrod deluxe and the tone is killer from all 3 pups.

I also own an American Deluxe Tele, another fantastic piece; 2 MIM Strats that are outstanding but also are not entry level pieces. I own a PRS, an Epi Les Paul plus top and some top rated acoustic electrics (Martin, Taylor & Breedlove). I have been playing for over 30 years and I won't buy junk. That said, it's not so much where the guitars is built that matters as much as how well that individual guitar was made. I have played Gibson 'Pauls' that were garbage. I have played Epi's that run circles around the Gibsons.

I have never picked up and played or bought an American made Fender product that was anything butt outstanding. Comments about Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar: I own a Peavey EVH Wolfgang special that I have had for along long time, and just recently a Schecter C-1 Hellraiser.

The Wolfgang did a good job for me for years but was limited and parts started to give after 15 or so years. And the Hellraiser is an amazing guitar for the price, but the string tension and frets has me using it more as a metal rhythm machine more then soloing. Im not big on the fret set up on that guitar. I never owned a Strat till now, and after flipping threw a Les Paul Studio 2 (good guitar but string tension is a tad odd) and a used Ibanez JS 1000 that had way more problems then I could handle (Im sure the new top line JS's are great.) I landed on this.

I know I landed on what I like. Tuns of tone control, Almost perfect string tension in which you can bend fairly easy on it, and yet the low E feels stable enough to butterfly pick some fast pedal base parts. Whats better is the dang thing stays in tune after some wild bends and more soulful playing also.

The tones are great, you can get that snappy start sound that everyone knows. But what shocked me (since I never played a strat before this) with this one I could switch it up and still get that nice warm Santana like lead with the 4th position on the switch and messing with the tone knobs and the little button on the volume (whatever that's called.) It even shocked me more that although the bridge H pickup maybe is not the hottest pickup out their, it holds its own. I can get more pinch harmonics from anywhere to the low G to anything on the higher strings. And more so then I have gotten with any other guitar (even a tad more so then the JS 1000.

Im not really sure why? They come out effortlessly. I struggle to get them on the Schecter with EMG 81 actives in it. Yet I get them on this without effort. The thing can play metal pretty dang good.

And then when you flip to a nice clean lead sound. All of a sudden you get way more then you get with just a pure metal guitar that fall flat clean. Instead this machine takes you into feeling like your a whole new artist playing wonderfully toned old school blues. The guitar feels good in your lap or in a strap (not to heavy or odd balanced.) Playing chords and rhythm is great on it too. To be honest im really shocked at how well it works.

The neck feels good, and can be fast enough yet still feels good just digging in. Your hands feel like they dont have to work as hard to get whats in your head.

I was a tad worried about the middle pickup, as I have had trouble with hitting those with the pick in other guitars. Not so much here, It seems lower and I just never seem to hit it much. And it may not be the flashiest looking guitar around, but it plays just so well. I never felt this comfortable on a guitar. And it gives me just about any tone I want.

I thought about changing the H bridge pickup, but I keep being shocked by what im getting from it so I wont. Really this guitar shocked me it a great instrument. I decided that I wanted the Metallic Sunset color (which is awesome) so I ordered it online. The guitar arrived in about 3 days to the store in Tallahassee.

These guys looked it over for me (oohed and ahhed at the color) and sent me on my way. I played it so many hours for the first few days my arms and fingers were sore! This guitar is so easy to bend on it took me some time to restrain myself to keep from overbending. The sound is awesome.especially the humbucker pickup (it just screams).

The tonal quality of the guitar is really great in all the different selection modes. I'm not a big user of the whammy bar but did play with it a bit and found it to be very smooth. The locking tuners are a big plus and the roller nut works to perfection.since I broke in the strings I have not went out of tune a single time (and I bend a lot). All in all it is the best guitar I have ever owned. I would absolutely recommend it for a person who needs a versatile axe that can be used equally well for rock, blues or country.

I have had this guitar for about a year in metallic sunburst and it has held up pretty well. What first turned me onto this guitar was how the body resonated acoustically. It has a very bright response to it and it shines even more-so when you plug it in. The whammy is incredible and in conjunction with the locking tuners and the LSR nut, it stays in tune very well. Also it comes with a floating tremolo which can be pretty cool if you're going to do some Jeff Beck dive bombs and flutters. The humbucker is surprisingly bright and the neck and middle N3's have a pretty balanced sound.

Not too bright but not too bassy. Overall the guitar can produce some awesome distorted solo tones, but at the same time shine on the clean channel. I found it amusing that, when I inquired about the guitar, he didn't really know what version of Strat he was playing. It was just a guitar that was given to him and he liked it. I recently purchased my Stratocaster H/S/S Deluxe and I am the happiest I've ever been with a guitar purchase. It is very well made and I particularly love the 3 color sunburst finish, my personal preference. I have been playing it pretty hard, using the tremolo bar to excess, somewhat out of curiosity to see how well it would hold its tuning afterward. I have been very, very pleased with its ability to remain in tune even after this extreme note dropping and shaking of the bar.

The S-1 switch is a fantastic option. It just fattens up a tone, making tone adjustments unnecessary or minimal on my Super Champ XD amp or when using my POD XT. The rosewood neck plays like 'butter'. Previously, I have been playing a 1964 Chet Atkins Gretsch 6120 double cutaway, a 1976 Les Paul Deluxe and a 1997 Fender Telecaster, all of which are very nice guitars. But this Stratocaster Deluxe is capable of creating any of the tones, with the exception of the Gretsch, of the Les Paul and Telecaster.

I think the Gretsch sound is a bit more unique due to its hollow body sound and I have not duplicated its sound with this Strat. However, in addition to duplicating my Les Paul Deluxe and my Tele, there are many subtle and not so subtle tones that can be found with this Strat that can't be found with the LP or Tele. I was surprised with the warm Jazz tone this guitar produces. In short, this guitar feels like an old friend - I love it.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar: I got the Olympic Pearl with the rosewood fretboard version of this. All the little extras are greatly appreciated on this guitar. Between the roller nut and the locking tuners this thing pretty much stays in tune when I use the 2 way trem bar. A lot of tones to pick from without sacrificing the strat sound. Solidly built and beautiful to look at and extremely comfortable to play.

My only complaint is, for a deluxe guitar the case is a little cheesy. Solid and functional but cheesy looking. At least I don't mind scratching it up.(the case that is). Comments about Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar: I have been playing for more than 30 years and own some fine acoustics and electrics, Fender, Martin, Taylor, Gibson, PRS, and Epiphone. I have owned many strats over the years and I currently own this one, a MIM Deluxe Player's Strat,and an American Tele Deluxe. That said, this is one of the best made, well playing guitars, regardless of brand I have ever played.

Tonally, it kick's butt and is second to none. The compound finger board makes bending anywhere on the neck easy. The locking tuners are essential for keeping the thing in tune when using the trem. It has great sustain and the stock pups are fantastic. The noiseless single coils sound superb whether clean or dirty and the hummer at the bridge screams. The fret work is flawless and the finish is beautiful. I have the Pearl white with rosewood.

It's awesome and sounds great. What I would really like to say is the excellent service I received from Guitar Center. This guitar was not scheduled for delivery right away. Other vendors were listing several months before delivery, but Guitar Center delivered a week before they had my scheduled delivery. The only way I would give any guitar 5 stars is only if it were exceptional right out of the box (or off the shelf, whichever you prefer). I have not piced up any of my other guitars since I got this one back at the beginning of January. The electronics offer so many combos. Playing through my Mustang amp makes it just that much better too! Forget about touching the whammy bar without throwing it out of tune. Playing fast & hard cause the sound to really wash out, making me wonder if it was my playing or the guitar. Turns out in most cases it was the guitar. And the buzzing from the pickups was really annoying for a guy that mostly plays quietly or through headphones in the den (or 'guitar lounge' as we call it)! After side by side comparisons in the store with a MIM Standard, American Standard, and the American Deluxe, I was sold on the American Deluxe.

It has all the features and capabilities you could ever want in a guitar. All the issues I had with my Squire are gone. This Deluxe Strat is heaven. Best money I have ever spent.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar: I ordered my stratocaster deluxe model online and had it delivered to Guitar Center store so it wouldn't have to get left on my front porch by the delivery guy. I was a little apprehensive about buying an expensive guitar that I had never played but it all went well. The guitar was in good shape, neck perfectly straight.

After playing for a week I started noticing alarming scratches on the pick guard. This turned out to just be the protective film that was left on in manufacturing.

I pulled it off but of course there are remnants around all the screw heads so I will have to disassemble the guitar if I want to get it all. I think this should have been done when the guitar was built. Other than that minor glitch I am very happy with the purchase.
